The Benton Franklin Humane Society liked the website I did for the Spokane Humane Society so much that they asked me to make them a new one. So I did. Check it out here!
EMS Connect
I recently completed this website for Quinn Group’s client EMS Connect. It has members only content that subscribers can pay for on a monthly basis. Our client can update the monthly archives with a content management system. It also looks good too!
EMSconnect is a monthly web-based seminar for emergency medicine providers. Topics are presented LIVE each month by a board-certified emergency medicine physician. Each topic is presented in an informal manner that is both engaging and educational.
The goal of EMSconnect is to provide the most current information for all levels of EMS providers and to provide documentation of ongoing educational requirements to meet state certifications.
Where the Forest Brushes the Sky
This project has been in the works for a quite a while. It’s a book/brochure for lake property on Priest Lake in Idaho. My client wanted the piece to have an outdoorsy/cabin feel. The finished printed brochure is quite nice. It’s a chart fold brochure with staggered pages, a folder pocket, business card slits, embossed and varnished cover logo, and a folded poster/map is inserted in the pocket. This was a fun challenge to design. I also created an online flash flipbook based on the brochure.
Below is an interactive flipbook that is based on the printed brochure. View it larger in a new window here.
IBEX Flooring
A good friend of mine, owns and operates a commercial flooring business. He’s a great guy and was even one of my groomsmen in my wedding. He asked me to update his logo and after several rounds of revisions and concept changes we arrived at the logo above. I think it turned out great and he loves it.
Huckleberry’s & Camping
Some of you might know that I do all the design work for Huckleberry’s Natural Market. It’s work that I thoroughly enjoy. They’re a great company with a great mission:
“to produce for and provide our customers with the best tasting, most healthful food possible and to pledge a commitment to social and environmental responsibility.“
Today’s ad (above) features a photo I took years ago on a backpacking trip with my friend James. Nothing pleases me more than getting to use some of my adventure photography for commercial use (insert comment about selling out as an artist here), and then bragging about it on my website!
James and I were camped at a little lake for a couple of days before we decided to spend the last night up on the ridge. We hauled everything (including a few gallons of water) up to a great meadow on the ridge and made camp. The views were beautiful and we could see for miles. It was different camping up high on a ridge vs. by a lake in a valley. We had no access to water and we were severely exposed to incoming weather.
Late that afternoon we noticed very dark and ominous clouds approaching our location. We gathered as much firewood as we could to prepare for rain. We burned all of it waiting for the storm, then we called it a night. Half an hour later we had access to fresh running water in the form of a stream running through James’ tent. Thunder and lighting was cracking and flashing all around us. The sound of the wind and rain was like a freight train. A few hours into it I had to go to the bathroom. I was a little worried to leave the “safety” of my tent, but when nature calls you answer. I only walked a few feet away from my tent because the visibility was almost zero. I turned around to look at my tent and I could barely make it out in the “fog”. We were literally inside of a thunderhead cloud. The moisture was thick as smoke. I took a leak quickly and hurried back to my tent. The rest of the night was spent sleeping lightly in between loud thunder claps.
It was still raining the next morning. We somehow managed to get a fire going using James’ wet wood fire starting skills. The fire was nice but nothing could dry us out in that rain. We solemnly packed up all of our wet gear and bushwacked our way down the mountain for hours in the rain. 10 years later I scanned in some old backpacking photos and put one in a natural market ad. Totally worth it.
Spokane Humane Society
I recently had the pleasure of creating the new Spokane Humane Society website. They are a great, non-profit local public charity dedicated to the welfare of companion animals.
In the past year I’ve been able to do some great design work for the Humane Society. Newspaper ads, facebook cover photo designs, brochures, billboards and now the new website. They’ve been a pleasure to work with.
Just over one year ago we got our awesome dog “Snow” there. She’s the best. The adoption process was pretty easy, although we could tell that they really want to make sure the animals go to a good home.
If you’re thinking about adding a furry new member to your family, I highly recommend rescuing an animal from the Spokane Humane Society.
Framework Rocks!
Some rockin’ dudes I know asked me to put together a website for their band Framework. I’m happy with the result and so is the band. If you’re into rock music check out their upcoming shows.
Lil’ Carol’s Honey & Bee Products
Update: The website is no longer active.
Lil’ Carol is a close family friend who also happens to resell my father’s honey. Since she’s been doing so well with the honey business I though she should have a website. I created quite a few custom illustrations and gave the whole thing a very artsy craftsy feel. Take a look at it and let me know what you think.

The Michael Building
Bob Spooner at Goodale & Barbieri recently asked me to work on some marketing material for one of their building projects, The Michael Building. The Michael Building, in downtown Spokane, will be renovated from the ground up with state of the art mechanical systems, electrical and plumbing while still maintaining its historical roots. Ground floor retail with 3 floors of office space will make this the next great mixed-use building in the downtown core.
Looking to attract businesses that want modern, creative workspaces, Bob had me design a building logo, a full-color gate-fold brochure, a website, and more to come.
Working on this project I learned a lot about the building (and Spokane’s) history. It was built after the Great Spokane Fire of 1889. The fire destroyed 32 square blocks, virtually the entire downtown. Residents and business owners rebuilt the downtown core quickly and many of the buildings built after the fire are still standing today.
She’s A Keeper!
In a neat little coincidence, I got to do some work for the Spokane Humane Society at about the same time Sara and I were thinking about adopting a dog. This is one of the billboards I created for them and below is Snow, our newest family member. She’s a 10 month old black lab mix and we couldn’t be happier. She’s definitely a keeper.
Lady Lily :: Little Lou Productions
Recently, I’ve been fortunate enough to work on some very fun stuff for a new independent film company. Little Lou Productions needed a logo and some collateral material for the world premier of their debut film Lady Lily: adventures in god’s country. I was given free reign on the Little Lou logo, so I presented three totally different ideas and they picked my favorite one (pictured above).
The film already had a great poster (kudos to whomever designed it), so I didn’t mess with it other than to add the requested laurels. I also created two sided postcards, a t-shirt and premier party artwork.
The world premier of the film will be at the Spokane International Film Festival this Friday, Feb 11th.
Go see it! It’s an awesome, weird, funny, creepy, sad and beautiful film – in other words, it will stick with you.
“Magic Lantern | Fri, Feb. 11 | 7:30 pm, 7:45 pm, 11:30 pm | It’s a sexy mind trip. The premise: two best friends spend the summer at a cabin, and a local man wedges between them. The backdrop: panoramic views of Priest Lake. The soundtrack: unique indie scores. Mind trip: the conclusion’s unexpected.” – The Pacific Northwest Inlander
Cashmere Skin & Body
I recently had the opportunity to do some work for Emily Gant of Cashmere Skin & Body. Emily, formerly of Spa Paradiso, started Cashmere and she’s had great success ever since. When discussing ideas for a logo she pointed to a unique wire-frame flower on the wall that she really liked and mentioned that she loved the colors gray and cream. I took her input and ran with it. I came up with several ideas incorporating the flower and different font solutions and after one small adjustment to her favorite design, the logo was finished. (I love it when that happens!)
My fiance is a loyal Cashmere customer and loves their services. The spa is welcoming, warm and inside the historic Flour Mill. Give Emily a call!
Business Cards
Do you want a custom designed business card? Of course you do. You need to stand out from the crowd.
Currently I can print 250/$30, 500/$50, and 1,000/$80.*
I’ll set a one-time design fee at $50 $30*. That’s crazy-cheap for a super-sweet custom business card design.
Here’s a few ideas I came up with for myself (your design will be completely unique). Which one do you like?
